PROMPT
"Design a visual identity with AI tools"
Imagine you're starting a company. Can you quickly communicate your brand vision using AI like your company name, logo, imagery, best colors, typography?
I was tasked with designing a brand kit and visual identity for ShoeX, a footwear company that produces sustainable and comfortable shoes for everyday wear.
Process
Mental Foundation
Jobs famously referred to the computer as a "bicycle for the mind" in a 1990 interview, explaining that just as a bicycle amplifies a person's physical abilities, the personal computer amplifies a person's mental abilities.
AI tools are now being viewed with similar sentiment. Rather than viewing AI as a replacement for human workers, we can see it as a tool that can augment and amplify human capabilities.
Ideation
It's easy to generate cool but directionless images with AI-generated tools, so I wanted to find simplicity and a clear direction amid all the noise.
My strategy: finding clarity in the midst of all the noise.
Since the shoe brand was a blank slate, I decided to niche down to be a sneaker company specifically for kids and teens.

Nailing the Prompts
When working with generative AI, it's easy to be vague and expect magic. When generating brand images for SkribblSneaks, it took multiple tries to get the exact image I wanted. This brand was for kids, yet I was getting images of clearly adult sizes. Jaime (my teammate) and I sent in prompt after prompt, each more specific each time, to nail the look.
Close, but not there yet.
Much better!
