Process
I was super stoked when I was invited to be an artist for my first-ever game jam, but was initially hesitant to say yes. Not only was I a beginner to game dev and hackathons, but I had a lot going on the weekend of the jam: Greek life formal, senior brunches, and farewell events (Class of 2023!). I knew I would have to be well prepared mentally and physically to deliver a game that would be enjoyed by others, and myself.
After asking myself "What's the worst that can happen?" I got ready for my first-ever 72-hour game jam (shoutout Ben, Kevin, and Rachel 🙌). I was super lucky and grateful to have an amazing team who helped me through the process. After sending in my ideas and models through Discord, it was amazing to slowly watch everything come together hour by hour.
It's funny how the theme of "delivery" resonates with my own experience in this game jam. I had to deliver on a personal level, balancing celebratory mimosas and discord jam sessions and taking on a new challenge. As a team we had to deliver on a creative level, bringing our individual skills and ideas together to create something special. I'm grateful for the opportunity to have worked with such a talented group of individuals, and I'm excited to see where my passion for art game development takes me in the future! 🐌💌
